Designs by Verity
Verity Freebern, the creative force behind the children’s product company
Grow Inc., and inventor of the new Nuzzle nursing pillow, has been a serial
entrepreneur since she was a child growing up in Oklahoma City.
Following
college graduation with a degree in graphic design and creative writing, she
became the art director of an established publishing company in Arizona
before moving to Chicago to work for several major design firms.
She
founded her own design firm, Verity Freebern Design, in 1993. Clients
included Leo Burnett Advertising, Thomson Media, the City of Chicago
and the National Ski Patrol. Freebern relocated to Denver in 1997 and co-
founded Grow a year later. The company’s whimsical, comfortable play-
clothes earned it a loyal following, though growth was slow due to limited
resources.
In 2004 Freebern formed a partnership with children’s product
manufacturer Basic Comfort, Inc., and began to expand the Grow product
line. Her line of Grow for Basic Comfort infant bedding is currently being
sold on Target.com, as well as in independent boutiques.
